Mechanical Design Engineer
Roles & Responsibilities
- Producing mechanical building services designs from initial brief through to construction stage
- Reviewing specifications, architectural drawings, and room data sheets
- Designing mechanical systems including HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, and public health services
- Supporting Design & Build projects across commercial building services environments
- Coordinating with contract management, estimating, CAD/BIM, and site delivery teams
- Conducting site visits, surveys, and attending client and consultant meetings
- Presenting technical designs to professional teams and project stakeholders
- Ensuring designs comply with current industry regulations and HTM standards
- Supporting project delivery teams throughout implementation stages
- Working to programme deadlines across multiple projects simultaneously
- Minimum 10 years’ experience within Mechanical Building Services Design
- HNC/HND or Degree qualified in Building Services Engineering or equivalent
- Strong Design & Build project experience
- Excellent knowledge of building services design software packages
- Working knowledge of CAD/BIM and Revit advantageous
- Good understanding of BMS and control systems
- Knowledge of current building regulations and HTM standards
- Strong communication, presentation, and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
